Are You Ready to be a Moving Example for the 21st Century Student: Quality Health and Physical Education Workshop?

Course Description:

This will be an activity based workshop.  Dress to be active and plan to be engaged!  Bring your laptop, reader or tablet.  The workshop is designed to address “best practices” in integrative and creative activities developmentally appropriate for the PK-12 student.  Come discover the link between physical education, health education, common core and MSIP 5.  Be on the cutting edge of promoting physical activity in your school and classroom.  Fresh ideas and best practices for technology implementation in physical education will be highlighted.  Physical fitness assessments and One-Minute Fitness will be among the participatory activities, as we introduce the new Missouri Physical Fitness Manual.  The workshop will include, but is not limited to the following:  Geocaching, Let’s Move in School, More Energizers/Brain Breaks, More Homemade Health Activities, and introduction to the NASPE Coaches Toolbox. Student health and safety topics will include the link between nutrition and physical activity, cyber bullying, texting and driving, and energy drinks. The annual Missouri/ DESE legislative update and recommended websites will be presented and discussed.  Resources for classroom use, as well as an advocacy power point, will be provided for each participant to take back to their district and building staff members.
