Refuse to be a Victim Workshops teach methods to avoid dangerous situations and prevent criminal confrontations. Experts agree the most important factor in surviving a criminal attack is to have an overall safety strategy before you need it. Workshop topics address personal safety issues as well as home, automobile, telephone, technological, and travel security. Workshop participants are presented with a variety of common-sense crime prevention and personal safety strategies and devices they may integrate into their daily lives.

Workshop Topics: 

  • Psychology of Criminal Predators
  • Mental Preparedness – levels of awareness, mental conditioning
  • Home Security – doors, locks, alarms, animals, visitors, schedules, mailboxes
  • Physical Security – awareness, walking/jogging, taking precautions for bags, purses and wallets, using buses and subways
  • Automobile Security – approaching and entering, dealing with breakdowns, reacting to wrecks and police, hitchhikers, road rage, car alarms
  • Out of Town Travel Security – airports, automobiles, taxis, buses, traveling outside of the country
  • Technological Security – phones, identity, banking, cyberfraud, cyberstalking and bullying
  • Self-Defense Physical Training – overview of self defense and how to find courses offered in town 
  • Personal Protection Devices – alarms, pepper spray, baton
